About The Position

Catcher/General Labor is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in a manufacturing environment. This position is expected to rotate among stations to perform essential job functions. The role involves handling fresh produce, packing finished goods, making boxes, palletizing, loading and unloading materials, maintaining cleanliness, and operating machinery. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential job functions for 8 hours or more.
  • Ability to rotate among stations.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift 1-35 lbs. for palletizing.
  • Ability to stack boxes up to 80" high.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Coring, trimming, cutting, slicing, and chopping a variety of fresh produce items on the trim line for the duration of 8 hours or more depending on volume.
  • Using hands, a shovel or rake to mix one type of produce into another, or separate clumps of produce.
  • Packing bags of finished goods into corrugated boxes, containers, etc.
  • Making boxes out of corrugated material for the pack-out line.
  • Stacking boxes of finished goods onto pallets.
  • Loading and unloading raw materials into automatic dumping bins and/or manually dumping product directly onto feed conveyors; must be able to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Loading and unloading raw materials into automatic dryers and manually dumping product directly onto feed conveyors; must be able to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintaining clean production area.
  • Maintaining clean employee break areas such as cafeteria / restrooms, ensuring proper cleaning supply inventory and completing documentation as required.
  • Maintaining product waste area, monitoring levels of trailer waste, maintaining a clean work area, monitoring functionality of equipment in area and reporting failures to maintenance, and communicating with appropriate personnel when trailer is full.
  • Maintaining adequate levels of GMP supplies. Monitoring inventory and communicating supply needs to the Production Clerk.
  • Operating a pallet jack to move raw/finished product or packaging materials to and from processing lines (position includes lifting up to 50 pounds).
  • Using a knife or peeler to trim, cut, or peel product.
  • Moving arms forward in a "throwing motion" or pushing mixed vegetables into product and mixing it together while bent over.
  • Handling product that may have a temperature of 32-36 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Packing finished bags into boxes in a timely manner so as not to hold-up the pace of the packaging machine.
  • Taking bags off the line (pulling towards the body) and placing them downward into the box.
  • Lifting bags of finished product (up to 35 lbs.) during the duration of the shift.
  • Making boxes by lifting the corrugated strips and folding them into a box.
  • Counting and keeping track of product dumped into the hoppers.
  • Safely operating hoists, dryers, and dumping machines.
  • Transferring filled baskets of product in and out of dryers.
  • Pushing the finished goods through the tape machine.
  • Applying gentle force to a box from left to right or right to left so that the tape machine can process the box.
  • Loading finished boxes onto the pallets, stacking the boxes from floor level to above head level.
  • Performing other duties (such as basic housekeeping) as assigned.
