About The Position

Coordinates and supervises personnel handling weather-related and catastrophe claims. Monitors and reviews claim files to ensure proper handling of policy provisions, procedures and legal obligations. Assign claims to independent adjusters and oversee their processing. Selects, trains, and develops supervised personnel. Maintains current knowledge of policy provisions, company procedures, and state laws governing claims. Will be assigned responsibilities for supervision of catastrophe response teams and operations. Supports compliance with the innovation training and departmental tools.

Requirements

  • Superior leadership and communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
  • Insurance knowledge acquired by attending Shelter's Basic Claims Schools and successful completion of Associate of Claims coursework or equivalent developmental training in another insurance environment is typically required.
  • Minimum of three years successful experience in claims adjusting, demonstrating superior organization, communication, and decision-making skills, as well as thorough knowledge of claims procedures, insurance policies, and coverages, is typically required.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply insurance policies, claims laws, and management reports is required.
  • Ability to acquire adjuster license in states of operation, as required.
  • Must acquire and maintain adjuster license in states of operation.
  • Ability to travel as required; may be up to 30%.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Associate in Claims coursework is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance claims operations, specifically Shelter's policies and claims procedures, is strongly preferred.
