About The Position

Pawsitive Dawg Walking and Pet Sitting is seeking a part-time to full-time pet sitter to join their team in Waltham, MA. This role focuses on providing force-free and fear-free pet care, prioritizing the social, emotional, and overall well-being of animals. The company offers individualized attention for pets, with services provided for one family at a time to ensure a safe and calm experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal care, reliable, and possesses excellent communication and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience caring for animals (personal, volunteer, or professional experience).
  • Expertise in cat care, including feeding, playing, and maintaining litter boxes.
  • Ability to lift up to 40-50 pounds.
  • Resilience and preparedness to work and drive in all New England weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in using technology for GPS and reviewing pet care profiles in a scheduling app.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, reliability, self-motivation, and a consistently positive attitude.
  • A smartphone capable of texting, downloading, and using scheduling software.
  • A reliable vehicle with a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Residency within 15 minutes of the main service areas (Waltham, Belmont, Watertown).
  • Availability for last-minute visits and occasional evenings or weekdays for client interviews, as needed.
  • Four references (3 professional and 1 personal).
  • Commitment to availability during agreed-upon hours unless prior absence is arranged or in case of illness.
  • A clean criminal background and driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Feeding, playing, and maintaining litter boxes for cats.
  • Administering medication or handling unexpected messes like spit up or potty accidents.
  • Using technology to navigate with GPS and review pet care profiles in a scheduling app.
  • Managing your schedule independently and adjusting or covering for team members when needed.
  • Organizing visits and overseeing the completion of each task.
  • Communicating effectively with clients and the Management Team, responding quickly to inquiries.
  • Following a structured schedule and maintaining detailed records of each visit.
  • Providing undivided attention and affection to each pet during visits.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of all animals and client homes during visits.
  • Meticulously disposing of all pet waste, ensuring a clean and environmentally friendly approach.
  • Providing a comprehensive update after each visit through the scheduling app, including a daily note and a photo.
