About The Position

The CAT Scan Technologist - PRN obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns. The incumbent also produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas, as required by the departmental procedures. Additionally, an employee in this position performs obstetric, gynecological, abdominal, and retroperitoneais scans, ultrasound techniques and examinations, and radiation therapy localization.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies patients’ ID by checking their name and date of birth.
  • Conducts patient interviews to describe level of discomfort or pain prior to, during, and after the exam.
  • Obtains necessary consent from patients before conducting procedures.
  • Maintains and cleans all equipment in accordance with decontamination procedures.
  • Supervises and performs imaging procedures under the direction of a radiologist using age appropriate standards of practice.
  • Performs venipunctures, contrast administration, and other relevant procedures in a safe manner.
  • Notifies appropriate person of any change(s) in patients’ status.
  • Assists the radiologist throughout procedures, with all the necessary supplies.
  • Follows safety, security, and infection control standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services provided.
  • Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast, adjusting all settings and parameters according to procedure requirements and radiologist preference.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
