The CAT Scan Technologist 2 is responsible for coordinating and managing scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures. This role involves supervising and performing diagnostic imaging studies under the direction of a radiologist, assisting with the education and training of new physicians, and participating in the development of new protocols and imaging techniques. The technologist will also engage in research initiatives, act as a team leader, monitor CT procedure charging, and demonstrate CT equipment for site visits. Key duties include obtaining and examining CT scan orders, ensuring their appropriateness, identifying patient service requirements, verifying patient identity, obtaining necessary consents, performing complex CT scanner operations adhering to radiation safety, integrating patient data to adapt exams, maintaining high-quality standards, assisting with patient positioning, maintaining aseptic technique, assisting radiologists with imaging procedures and interventional CT procedures, evaluating CT scans for quality, transmitting images to PACS, charging procedures and supplies, dispensing oral contrast, loading and operating power injectors, maintaining accurate patient records, gaining patient cooperation, providing age-specific care, performing basic nursing functions, assuming care for patient needs during scanning, initiating life support measures, assisting in "Code Blue" procedures, performing CPR, keeping the work area clean and stocked, providing on-call coverage, reporting unusual findings, scheduling patients, assisting with clerical functions, and providing education and training to new and student technologists. The role also requires adherence to hospital/department HR policies and regulatory body guidelines.
