About The Position

We are seeking a Cat Litter Packaging Mechanic for Shift 906, working Monday - Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at our Old Fort, OH facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, timing, and repairing high-speed packaging equipment to meet and exceed manufacturing specifications, while maximizing production requirements. The hourly wage starts at $32.19, increasing to $35.16 after training sign-off. Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma / GED is required.
  • Minimum two years Mechanical Experience.
  • Multi-skilled with strong mechanical aptitude and abilities and a solid electrical background.
  • Basic proficiency in welding and machining (lathe, mill, drill press, band saw).
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently.
  • Must be self-starting/can work without direction.
  • Use safe operating procedures and judgment including Lock Out Tag Procedures specified by Old Fort Facility.
  • Follow all facility rules to maintain quality and integrity of both raw materials and finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, times, and repairs high-speed packaging equipment while maximizing production requirements that meet/exceed manufacturing specifications.
  • Troubleshoots, adjusts, times, and makes all repairs to packaging department equipment, including Pack lines, palletizers, stretch wrappers, and all raw materials conveying equipment, with minimal downtime.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all packaging equipment.
  • Fabricates stock parts for the packaging equipment as needed.
  • Repairs/rebuilds motors, brakes, pumps, etc., when necessary.
  • Tracks electrical problems on all equipment, including PLCs.
  • Performs machine changeovers and sets up all cat litter packaging lines to ensure vertical startups for increased production.
  • Assists in meeting high quality standards and production quotas in the Packaging Department.
  • Works overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • Works any shift during the week as well as weekends in the Cat Litter Department.
  • Must be self-starting and able to work without direction.
  • Uses safe operating procedures and judgment, including Lock Out Tag Procedures specified by the Old Fort Facility.
  • Elevates any conflicts in the production schedule, performance, or quality issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Maintains a clean and safe operating area by following the 5S program, including sweeping the floor, dumping trash, and removing extraneous items.
  • Supports other department functions as necessary.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
