About The Position

Kean Miller is seeking a Lateral/Experienced Associate to join our Casualty and Mass Tort Litigation Practice Group in our Baton Rouge or Houston office. This role involves working closely with partners on all aspects of litigation, including investigations, case reporting, discovery, and depositions, through to trial preparation. The associate will manage a caseload independently, handle court appearances and depositions, lead client communication, and provide regular updates. The position requires interaction with clients and the development of client and referral relationships. The firm emphasizes a fast-paced, challenging environment and teamwork.

Requirements

Minimum five (5) years general litigation experience.
Excellent academic credentials.
Strong research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Good standing with the TX and LA State Bar.

Nice To Haves

Extensive experience in taking depositions.
Extensive experience in writing motions.
Extensive experience in responding to discovery.

Responsibilities

Work hand in hand with partners on all phases of litigation, from rapid response investigations, case reporting, discovery, and depositions, through trial preparation.
Independently manage a caseload from beginning to end.
Regularly handle court appearances and depositions.
Take the lead with client communication.
Provide meaningful updates to clients.
Interact directly with Kean Miller’s clients.
Further develop client and referral relationships.
