This is an entry-level position offering the opportunity to gain a variety of skills both indoors and outdoors, providing flexible support across all Nak'azdli Whut'en departments as operational needs arise. Duties include manual labour, general office and administrative support, and assistance with the planning and execution of band-related events and activities. Assignments will vary based on departmental need, and the incumbent works under the direction of the relevant department lead or Office Manager to ensure work is completed safely and effectively.

Requirements

  • No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
  • Willingness to learn and follow direction across a variety of tasks.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
  • Safety-conscious approach to all work.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check required; a Vulnerable Sector Check may also be required depending on assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred, not always required).
  • It is an asset to have a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with a variety of tasks including physical tasks such as lifting, moving, loading/unloading, setup, and teardown as assigned.
  • Support general maintenance and upkeep of facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning, organizing, and preparing spaces for use (offices, storage areas, event venues, outdoor sites).
  • Help with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, yard work, or facility preparation as needed.
  • Provide general clerical support such as filing, data entry, photocopying, and organizing records.
  • Assist departments with scheduling, correspondence, and day-to-day office tasks.
  • Support front-desk or reception as needed, including greeting visitors and answering phones.
  • Help maintain organized and accessible office and storage spaces.
  • Assist with the planning, setup, and takedown of band-related events and activities.
  • Help with site logistics such as seating, staging, equipment, and signage.
  • Provide on-site support before, during, and after events, including assisting vendors and guests.
  • Assist with cleanup and restoring event spaces afterward.
  • Take direction from the relevant department lead or manager for each assignment.
  • Adapt to changing tasks and priorities across departments as operational needs shift.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, protocols, and PPE requirements.
  • Report any safety concerns, hazards, near misses, or incidents to the assigned supervisor promptly.
