About The Position

Casual Utility Worker opportunities are available working out of Cowichan Lake Recreation in the West Cowichan section of the Facilities Division at the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Reporting to the Manager – Facility Operations (West Cowichan) and supervised by the Building Maintenance Ice Maker II, the Utility Worker performs duties of a skilled and semi-skilled nature relating to various facility maintenance and cleanliness routines, including ice maintenance, plumbing, painting, flooring, refrigeration, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, welding, etc.

Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • One (1) year of experience performing recreational facility maintenance, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • WHMIS certification -- provided by the employer
  • Basic First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Basic Safety Awareness Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties of a skilled and semi-skilled nature relating to various facility maintenance and cleanliness routines, including ice maintenance, plumbing, painting, flooring, refrigeration, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, welding, etc.
