About The Position

The role provides administrative and facility support to the residence’s clients and tenants. This position is responsible for cleaning shelter rooms, washrooms, kitchen, lounge and common areas, packing up client's belongings and prepping beds and rooms for new clients. The worker monitors the environment and clients/residents to ensure safety and security, and ensures client supervision and adherence to rules and policies. Laundry services for the shelter and shelter clients are provided, along with safe storage and recording of prescribed medications. The role acts as a positive role model for clients by developing professional interpersonal relationships that promote dignity and respect. Cooking for Shelter clients may be necessary, including light food preparation and serving clients at mealtimes. The worker conducts all required shift change procedures, maintains required documentation and shelter log, and makes entries and maintains the HFIS database. Refuse collection and disposal, spot cleaning, and monitoring appropriate behavior to ensure rules are followed are also key duties. New clients receive orientation. The worker participates as a team member with other staff to ensure a safe and caring environment by performing duties such as responding to emergency issues and supporting others through methods such as sharing knowledge and information. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certificate in First Aid and CPR Training
  • Non-Violent Crises Intervention Training
  • Ability to relate and engage marginalized people
  • Naloxone Training
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening
