About The Position

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai’i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or Instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to one calendar year for part-time employees. This position is to begin approximately July 2026, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.

Requirements

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and an Associate’s degree from an accredited institution OR Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science OR Doctor of Pharmacy (PHARM) degree.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology, Health Administration, Nursing or related field.
• Two years of direct work experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
• Two years of teaching or workforces training experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach a range of pharmacy technician courses with a strong emphasis on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam in order that students who complete the courses are able to achieve certification and perform work.
• Develops curriculum and implements instruction and ongoing evaluation of student performance throughout the program.
• Maintains a cooperative working relationship with staff at externship sites to provide a safe learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
