About The Position

Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide. This role involves performing operations in the manufacturing of an aluminum knuckle for automobiles, including operations on NDK equipment for multiple production lines, maintaining equipment check sheets, and maintaining C.O.P. in the work area. Associates will be cross-trained in more than one step of the process after initial training. The position requires using various tools, moving lightweight materials, and ensuring production quantities and quality. It also involves checking the quality of products and parts for production, and performing other assigned tasks. The role emphasizes working towards overall company goals including OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing priorities and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in quality control processes specific to the Casting department.
  • Able to operate casting lines.
  • Able to complete melt process on 4 pots.
  • Able to run furnace operation.
  • Able to drive transfer pot operation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform one or more operations in the manufacturing of an aluminum knuckle for automobiles.
  • Operate NDK equipment for multiple production lines.
  • Maintain equipment check sheets and C.O.P. in the work area.
  • Use tools such as file, air sander, air chisel, air blow wand, broom, dustpan and squeegee.
  • Move lightweight materials.
  • Know and maintain production quantities & quality.
  • Check quality of products and parts to be used for production.
  • Promote a safety first attitude and provide a safe work environment by obtaining knowledge and following all required OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Casting Supervisor and Quality Assurance teams to ensure equipment maintenance meets quality standards.
  • Follow quality control processes and procedures to maintain product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Casting Supervisor to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks, ensuring the smooth flow of production.
  • Coordinate Production schedules to minimize disruption to production activities.
  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvements within the casting process.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in productivity metrics.
  • Provide daily updates to the Casting Supervisor on work progress, equipment performance, production targets, and key performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Casting Supervisor to gather and analyze data for reporting purposes.
  • Monitor key performance metrics related to casting processes, including equipment uptime, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify areas for improvement and drive performance optimization.
