About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing product for processing, operating equipment to remove debris, and ensuring a safe working environment. The Casting Finisher will follow directions from supervisors, maintain safety procedures, and represent the company positively. Effective communication with colleagues and management is essential. The position involves preparing product by grinding and cleaning, operating material moving equipment, and using a Roto blast to remove debris. Additional duties include removing castings from molds, staging waste materials, recording data, and participating in 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Availability for assigned shifts, overtime, and willingness to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a high-temperature environment are required. Prior experience with a burning torch and air arch is also necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent Math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and Engineering drawings.
  • Prior experience working in a Lean/ISO Environment.
  • Computer literacy primary for attendance and job tracking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Able and willing to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment as defined by the safety department.
  • Able and willing to work safety in a high temperature environment.
  • Prior experience utilizing a burning torch and air arch, to reduce material to the appropriate size.

Responsibilities

  • Follow direction provided by Floor supervisor or designee.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
  • Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organizations core values.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Prepare product for processing including, grinding and cleaning of product according to established instructions.
  • Operate material moving equipment to move material to appropriate location for processing.
  • Operate Roto blast to remove debris from product, while wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Remove the casting from the mold and shake out any additional materials from the mold casting.
  • Remove unwanted materials from the work area to a staging area for proper disposal.
  • Maintain and record data of the procedure.
  • Participate in 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiative as assigned by direct supervisor or designee.
  • Be available and able to work shift and overtime as assigned.
  • Able and willing to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment as defined by the safety department.
  • Able and willing to work safety in a high temperature environment.
  • Utilize a burning torch and air arch, to reduce material to the appropriate size.
