About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships and offering membership products. The role scans merchandise, accepts payments, and provides efficient, productive service to members while maintaining the cleanliness of the frontline department.

The position supports club policies, procedures, and compliance; contributes to a safe, positive, inclusive environment; and works with the team to achieve daily service and club standards. Cashiers are expected to maintain a friendly attitude, act with honesty and integrity, and attend work regularly and predictably.

Requirements

• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Explain membership options and offer appropriate membership products, including renewals, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service to members and address or escalate member concerns as appropriate.
• Check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge payment methods, and issue receipts or change.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes and help members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Stay informed about merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain frontline cleanliness and assist with general club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Work in other departments and perform other duties as assigned.
• Support daily GOLD Member Standards and club standards, including keeping items stocked, executing promotional plans, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
