About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; offering membership products; scanning merchandise; and accepting payments. The role provides efficient, high-quality member service and helps maintain cleanliness and standards in the frontline department. Cashiers may assist at self-checkout stations, return resellable merchandise to the sales floor, and work in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Explain BJ’s membership options and promote renewals, upgrades, EASY renewal, loyalty programs, and rewards redemption.
• Provide courteous, high-quality service and check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist members at self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes, including resolving operational or technical difficulties.
• Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge methods, and issue receipts or change.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information; apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain cleanliness in the frontline area and assist with general club housekeeping when necessary.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Carry out assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed, and maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support a safe, positive, inclusive environment and deliver the club’s GOLD member and club standards.
• Understand how to access and read department production or financial performance reporting and how consistent execution affects the business.
