About The Position

Operates cash register and point-of-sale systems, processes and bags customer orders, and performs carry-outs. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment. This role requires availability between 12 PM and 10 PM and is a temporary position for 90 days. The company operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and in-store positions may include evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. The role involves engaging customers in a friendly manner, working a schedule that meets business needs, and demonstrating reliable attendance. It requires a solutions-oriented approach to problems, representing company values, and contributing to an inclusive working environment. The position involves working cooperatively with team members, customers, and vendors, and maintaining a respectful workplace. Employees are expected to give and receive feedback constructively, conserve company resources, and adhere to company mission, vision, values, and sustainability programs. Safety policies and store cleanliness are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

• Must complete and maintain any required food and work safety trainings/certifications.
• Works a schedule that is informed by the needs of the business and may be subject to change seasonally or due to varying staffing needs and demonstrates reliable and predictable attendance, in accordance with attendance policy and all applicable laws.
• Shifts tasks as priorities and circumstances change based on needs and conditions of department and whole store as needed.
• Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making in completing job-related tasks, in behaviors in the workplace, and in interactions with co-workers, customers, and the community.
• Consistently utilizes the DEI lens in work tasks and when working with other teams and stakeholders.
• Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.

• Entry level experience with MS Office.
• Required frequently and up to continuously to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift.
• Continuously required to: lift 1-10 pounds; push/pull 1-10 pounds; use arms, hands and wrists; grasping/squeezing.
• Frequently required to: lift 11-20 pounds; twist; reach below shoulder.
• Occasionally required to: carry 1-50 pounds; push/pull 11-20 pounds; bend/stoop; crouch/squat; reach at/above shoulder.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of retail Front End and/or cash-handling experience highly preferred.
• Working knowledge with POS, inventory or other retail specific software preferred with skills to learn new computer software and technology.

Responsibilities

• Rings up and bags groceries using company taught best practices and customer preference.
• Assist customers with carry-outs as needed.
• Assists customers in the Self-checkout (SCO) area through high levels of customer engagement.
• Interacts with SCO terminals or mobile terminal to monitor and support transactions.
• Prepares Front End department for store opening and closing.
• Accountable for following cash handling, register and return procedures.
• Complies with alcohol sales regulations.
• Processes returns per policy and requests assistance from lead or management for complex returns.
• Uses Front End resource guide and store walks to learn PLUs and accurately process customer orders.
• Keeps cash drawer organized throughout shift.
• Assists with product go-backs.
• Re-stocks, rotates and faces products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
• Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
• Responsible for assisting customers with container returns and overall upkeep of bottle count and recycling areas.
• Performs manual container counts as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness, organization and rotation of all areas, products and supplies.
• May assist in additional light cleaning / housekeeping tasks when needed.
• Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events.
• Demonstrates familiarity with products throughout store with willingness to continue learning.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
