About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases courteously and efficiently, providing excellent service while verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; scanning merchandise; and accepting payments. The role helps maintain a clean and organized front-line area and supports a safe, positive experience for members and team members. Cashiers may assist at self-checkout stations, help with general club housekeeping, return resellable merchandise to the sales floor, and perform other duties or work in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Explain membership options and offer appropriate products, including renewals, the EASY renewal option, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and resolve or escalate member concerns as appropriate.
• Check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations and scan-and-pan lanes.
• Collect cash, checks, or other charge payments and issue receipts or change due.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain cleanliness in the front-line area and assist with general club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Assist members with operational and technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Support club standards, including stocking items, executing promotional plans, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping areas clean and organized.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
