About The Position

This position is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the Bargain Barn, ensuring the security of corporate assets, maintaining positive customer relations, and accurately processing sales to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities. The Cashier will provide world-class customer service, maintain a clean and orderly work environment, and assist with stocking and rotating merchandise. This role operates under the direct supervision of the Team Leader Coach and Assistant Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Ability to see details at close range and adequate distance to guide parking.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team leadership, team members, customers, and clients.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Skill of operation monitoring, watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • 6 months of previous cashiering experience.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a retail environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the Bargain Barn.
  • Maintain security of corporate assets.
  • Foster positive customer relations.
  • Accurately operate the cash register.
  • Maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.
  • Greet and assist customers in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Bag/wrap merchandise.
  • Display merchandise.
  • Clean cash wrap area, counters, and front of store.
  • Hang and stock shelves, and rotate merchandise.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace and work area.
  • Assist in stocking and rotation of merchandise.
  • Ensure all items are processed accurately and saleable merchandise is moved to the sales floor in a timely manner.
  • Complete breakdown and maintain rotation to ensure overall movement of goods, as assigned and in relation to production numbers.
  • Support the stocking and maintenance of the sales floor, and keep the cash/wrap area neat, organized, and clean.
  • Assist in the rotation of merchandise on the sales floor, placing items in correct locations and rotating as needed.
  • Assist with quality and safety control assurance.
  • Use safe work procedures and personal protective equipment as required.
  • Report equipment defects, incidents, injuries, or damage in a timely manner to the immediate supervisor.
  • Move material movement equipment in a safe manner in accordance with organizational and safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all GGC and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Follow good safety practices, including reporting safety hazards and injuries.
  • Maintain GGC security related to theft, pilferage, and handling of cash receipts.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative, functional work relationship with the team leader and all team members.
  • Follow all Guiding Principles and Core Values.
  • May be asked to assist in training new cashiers.
  • Attend in-service and related training as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.
