About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases courteously and efficiently. The role includes verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; offering membership products and loyalty programs; scanning merchandise; accepting payments; issuing receipts or change; and providing excellent member service. The Cashier helps maintain the cleanliness of the frontline area, supports self-checkout, and may assist with general housekeeping or work in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Explain BJ’s Membership options and the importance of renewals and upgrades to BJ’s Loyalty programs.
• Offer appropriate membership products, including renewals, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge payments; issue receipts or change due.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information; apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain cleanliness in the frontline area and assist with general club housekeeping when necessary.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes, assisting members with operations and technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and maintain club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support club standards, a safe and positive environment, teamwork, inclusion, and excellent member service.
