About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; scanning merchandise; and accepting various forms of payment. The role provides efficient, productive member service, maintains the cleanliness of the front-line department, and supports club policies, procedures, and compliance. The position is scheduled Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Requirements

Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

Basic math skills preferred.
Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Explain BJ’s membership options and offer membership renewals, EASY renewal, loyalty programs, and rewards redemption.
Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely, efficient manner.
Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge payment methods; issue receipts or change.
Stay up to date on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
Maintain the cleanliness of the front-line area and assist with general club housekeeping when necessary.
Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes and assist members with operational or technical difficulties.
Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow all club policies and procedures.
Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
Support a safe and positive environment, address or escalate member concerns, collaborate respectfully, and uphold daily GOLD member and club standards.
