About The Position

This role is responsible for various customer service and operational tasks within a retail environment. Key duties include greeting customers, processing sales transactions accurately using a POS system, handling cash, and promoting customer engagement with company programs. The position also involves maintaining store cleanliness, organizing merchandise, assisting with promotions, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety procedures. Additionally, the role may involve training new staff, participating in off-site activities, and attending assigned training sessions.

Requirements

  • Ability to greet customers both via phone or in person in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner.
  • Ability to offer assistance to customers.
  • Ability to operate the POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on merchandise.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions properly, including processing coupons and discounts.
  • Ability to ensure the integrity of the “Change Round-up” program.
  • Ability to clean front doors, counters and glass frequently, dust cases, keep front of store clean, return shopping carts and baskets to appropriate areas, return unsold merchandise to proper area.
  • Ability to assist with promotions to include customer information, postings, special sign displays, etc.
  • Ability to stock and maintain counter, showcases and cash/wraps in a neat and clean condition at all times.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner, adhere to proper handling of material movement equipment and communicate any safety hazards or concerns.
  • Ability to assist in training new cashiers.
  • Ability to clean dressing rooms and re-hang clothes as needed.
  • Ability to place apparel, wares, shoes, accessories, etc., onto sales floor in correct location and rotate merchandise from sales floor as needed.
  • Adherence to all Memphis Goodwill policies and procedures.
  • Follow good safety practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Team Leader Coach.
  • Adherence to all Memphis Goodwill policies and procedures relating to theft or pilferage and handling of cash receipts.
  • Perform assigned duties within the framework of our Guiding Principles.
  • Participate in activities outside of Goodwill as requested.
  • Attend in-service and related training as assigned by Team Leader Coach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader Coach.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring proper cash handling of all transactions including proper processing of coupons and discounts.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the “Change Round-up” program where all customers must be asked to round up the change from each transaction to support the mission of Memphis Goodwill within our community.
  • Cleaning front doors, counters and glass frequently, dusting cases, keeping the front of the store clean, returning shopping carts and baskets to appropriate areas, and returning unsold merchandise to the proper area.
  • Assisting with promotions to include customer information, postings, special sign displays, etc.
  • Stocking and maintaining counter, showcases and cash/wraps in a neat and clean condition at all times.
  • Working in a safe manner, adhering to proper handling of material movement equipment and communicating any safety hazards or concerns.
  • Assisting in training new cashiers.
  • Cleaning dressing rooms and re-hanging clothes as needed.
  • Placing apparel, wares, shoes, accessories, etc., onto the sales floor in the correct location and rotating merchandise from the sales floor as needed.
