About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and running smoothly while serving customers. The role includes operating the register, assisting customers, promoting sales, maintaining merchandise, and cleaning both inside and outside areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, parking-lot areas, and entryways. Team members may be cross-trained in other departments, including deli, and are expected to follow safety procedures and company policies and assist wherever needed. Candidates should be personable, reliable, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working on their feet, indoors and outdoors in all weather. The position requires weekend and holiday availability, English communication skills, basic math ability, and the physical ability to lift items as specified. Previous retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required. Employment offers are contingent on completing a background check, and candidates may be required to undergo pre-employment drug screening.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Must be able to work on their feet for most of a shift and indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, and adaptability.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
Keep the store’s interior and exterior clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, picking up litter, and taking trash to the dumpster in all weather.
Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways and general store organization.
Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
Follow safety procedures and company policies.
Work as a team member and help wherever needed.
