About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate welcomes customers, operates the register, supports sales, and helps keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and running smoothly. The role includes maintaining indoor and outdoor areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, the parking lot, and store entryways. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments, including deli, and are expected to follow safety procedures and company policies while assisting the team as needed. Candidates should be friendly, reliable, detail-oriented, flexible, and comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. They must be prepared to spend most of their shift on their feet, work weekends and holidays, and meet the stated lifting requirements. Prior retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required; training is provided on the job.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work hard and remain on their feet for most of the shift.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, trustworthy, and responsible.
- Flexible and adaptable to varied tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell when possible to increase sales.
- Keep the inside and outside of the store clean and safe.
- Deep clean high-use restrooms.
- Wipe down and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
- Pick up litter and trash from the floor and lot area.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays so merchandise looks fresh and full.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Support team members and help wherever needed.
