About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate serves customers and helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and running smoothly. The role includes operating the register, selling age-restricted products in compliance with legal requirements, providing friendly service, and maintaining merchandise and store displays. It also requires substantial cleaning and upkeep inside and outside the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, the parking lot, and trash areas. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments, including deli, and are expected to help wherever needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Able to work on their feet for most of a shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
• Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal-history background check.
• Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
• Detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, trustworthy, responsible, and flexible.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
• Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
• Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
• Keep the inside and outside of the store clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, and removing litter from floors and the lot.
• Take trash to the dumpster in all weather conditions.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays and keep merchandise looking full and fresh.
• Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain store entryways.
• Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Support the team and assist wherever needed.
