About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate supports store operations by serving customers, operating the register, stocking merchandise, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment inside and outside the store. The role includes cleaning restrooms and gas pumps, removing litter and trash in all weather, and keeping shelves, coolers, displays, windows, and entryways presentable. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments, including deli, and help wherever needed. The position requires working weekends and holidays, standing for most of a shift, and working indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to work on their feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Attention to detail.
- Punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability.
- Flexibility and readiness to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell when possible.
- Keep the store clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, and picking up litter inside and outside.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain store entryways.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Help team members and step in wherever needed.
