About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and operating smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, selling lottery, cigarette, and alcohol products in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, offering upsells, stocking merchandise, and maintaining indoor and outdoor areas. Associates may cross-train in other departments, including deli, and help wherever needed. The position requires working weekends and holidays, spending most of the shift on your feet, and working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to work on your feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication skills.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, trustworthiness, and adaptability to varied tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell when appropriate to increase sales.
- Keep the inside and outside of the store clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, picking up litter, and taking trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise full and presentable.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain clean and organized entryways and store areas.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Work as a team member and assist wherever needed.
