About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and operating smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, selling lottery, cigarettes, and alcohol in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, and offering customers additional products when appropriate. Associates stock merchandise, clean and maintain the store’s interior and exterior—including restrooms, gas pumps, and parking areas—and may cross-train in other departments such as deli. The position requires working indoors and outdoors in varying weather, standing for most of a shift, and helping wherever needed. Prior retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but is not required; training is provided on the job.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and stay on their feet for most of a shift.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal-history background check.
- Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, trustworthiness, adaptability, and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.

- Previous retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible to increase sales.
- Keep the store’s interior and exterior clean and safe, including deep cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, picking up litter, and taking trash to the dumpster.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain store entryways and general organization.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Help teammates and step in wherever needed.
