About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and operating smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role involves operating the register, selling lottery, cigarette, and alcohol products in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, and offering customers additional products when appropriate. Associates maintain both indoor and outdoor areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, parking lot, and entryways; stock shelves, coolers, and displays; and may cross-train in other departments, including the deli. The position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and being on one’s feet for most of a shift. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work hard and remain on their feet for most of the shift.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Must be personable, positive, detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and flexible.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Sell lottery, cigarette, and alcohol products while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell products when possible.
- Keep the store’s interior and exterior clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, and picking up litter.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain store entryways and organization.
- Cross-train in other departments, including the deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Support the team and help where needed.
