About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate serves customers, operates the register, and helps keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and welcoming. The role includes sales of lottery tickets, cigarettes, and alcohol in compliance with legal age-verification requirements; offering friendly service and upselling when appropriate; cleaning both indoor and outdoor areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, and the parking lot; stocking merchandise; and cross-training in other departments, including deli, as needed. The position requires working weekends and holidays, spending most of the shift on one's feet, and working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Candidates must be at least 18 and pass applicable pre-employment screening.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to work on one's feet for most of a shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Must be personable, positive, detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and adaptable.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Learn and handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when appropriate.
- Clean and maintain store interiors and exteriors, including restrooms, gas pumps, entryways, floors, windows, and the parking lot.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Work collaboratively and help wherever needed.
