About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate serves customers, operates the register, and helps keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and running smoothly. The role includes sales of lottery tickets, cigarettes, and alcohol in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements; providing friendly service and upselling when appropriate; cleaning inside and outside areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, and entryways; stocking shelves, coolers, and displays; and cross-training in other departments, including deli, as needed. Team members follow safety procedures and company policies and help wherever needed. The role requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and being on one's feet for most of a shift.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work hard and remain on one's feet for most of a shift.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Must be personable, positive, detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and flexible.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
- Keep store interiors and exteriors clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, picking up litter, taking trash to the dumpster, sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, and maintaining entryways.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Help teammates and step in wherever needed.
