About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and running smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, selling age-restricted products in compliance with legal requirements, stocking merchandise, maintaining indoor and outdoor areas, and supporting other departments as needed. The job requires working weekends and holidays, spending most of the shift on your feet, and working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Prior retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Able to work on your feet for most of the shift and indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, trustworthy, and responsible.
- Adaptable and willing to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell when appropriate.
- Clean and maintain the inside and outside of the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and parking areas.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Support the team and help wherever needed.
