About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate serves customers and helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and operating smoothly. The role includes operating the register, providing customer service, selling age-restricted products in compliance with legal requirements, stocking merchandise, and maintaining the store’s interior and exterior. Associates may be asked to cross-train in other departments, including the deli, and to assist wherever needed. The position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and spending most of the shift on one’s feet.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be prepared to work on one’s feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal history background check.
• Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
• Attention to detail.
• Punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability.
• Adaptability and willingness to take on a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail or customer service experience; experience is appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
• Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
• Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
• Keep the inside and outside of the store clean and safe, including deep cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, and picking up litter and trash.
• Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise full and presentable.
• Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways and general store organization.
• Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Work as a team member and help wherever needed.
