Cashier/Sales Associate - Store 4449
About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, inviting, safe, and running smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, handling regulated lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, and offering customers additional products when appropriate. Associates clean and maintain the interior and exterior of the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, parking areas, and trash. They stock shelves, coolers, and displays, may cross-train in other departments such as deli, and follow company safety procedures and policies. The work requires standing for most of the shift and working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to work on their feet for most of the shift and indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly demeanor, attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, responsibility, and adaptability.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience; experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell customers when possible.
- Keep the inside and outside of the store clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, and picking up litter.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways and overall store organization.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Help teammates and step in wherever needed.
