About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, inviting, safe, and running smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, selling age-restricted products in compliance with legal requirements, offering customers additional products when appropriate, stocking merchandise, and maintaining the store’s interior and exterior. Team members may be cross-trained in other departments, including deli, and are expected to help where needed. The position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and being on one’s feet for most of the shift. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, able to work weekends and holidays, and able to communicate effectively in English and perform basic math. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen and may be subject to a criminal history background check. Previous retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Must be prepared to work on one’s feet for most of the shift and be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
Provide friendly service and upsell when possible to increase sales.
Keep the interior and exterior of the store clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, picking up litter, and taking trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise fresh and full.
Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain store entryways.
Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
Follow safety procedures and company policies.
Work as a team member and help wherever needed.
