About The Position

The cashier/processor will provide retail store(s) with register operations, exemplary customer service, and other tasks assigned by store management. They may work in the processing area of the store handling a variety of donated goods or on the sales floor stocking shelves and providing customer service. Price and tag items to achieve the highest dollar return and assume responsibility for quality control of donations processed. Understand, support, and positively promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Goodwill Industries and adhere to all Goodwill Industries of Lane and South Coast Counties and Alaska rules, policies, and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Must have basic math skills to accurately count cash.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must provide required documentation.
  • Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug-screen.
  • Must have sufficient command of the English language to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervisors

Nice To Haves

  • Three months cashier or related experience and/or training preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform register-opening procedures, including counting and verifying register starting funds.
  • Perform opening store tasks, including but not limited to, cleaning, straightening, and stocking glass cases, counters, and cash register areas as needed.
  • Perform all register functions accurately.
  • Collect cash, charge payments, make change, and provide receipts to customers.
  • Maintain a 50% or greater Round Up average.
  • Pack customer purchases in bags or containers.
  • Perform register-closing duties, including but not limited to, accurately counting down registers, counting deposits, and processing the supporting detailed paperwork.
  • Ensure register tills and deposits are properly secured.
  • Assist with customer service in other areas on phones and in person, answer customer’s questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
  • Answer phones and make store announcements.
  • Pull and stock merchandise as directed.
  • Assist in store cleanup and recovery procedures.
  • Remove articles from dressing rooms and return to appropriate area.
  • Transport items to and from the sales floor.
  • Place items on shelves, in bins, or on racks.
  • Face shelves, racks, and /or bins according to display standards.
  • Remove old items from display and place in totes or carts, as assigned.
  • Provide carry out service, as needed.
  • Ensure that quality customer service is provided to all customers, donors, and employees.
  • Meet or exceed customer service expectations including mystery shop goal of 93%.
  • Meet or exceed daily production goals.
  • Maintain merchandising standard as outlined in the Retail Concepts Guide
  • Inspect, sort, grade, and assign prices or other actions needed to donated items.
  • Maintain high quality and quantity in processing goods to meet or exceed productivity standards.
  • Determine salability and assess the value of donations accurately.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent prices as outlined in the Price and Tag Guide.
  • Prepare items for sale by hanging clothing, cleaning items as needed, and bagging items that need to be kept together.
  • Tag, mark, and code items selected for sale according to designated prices and types of merchandise.
  • Properly sort discarded donations into appropriate salvage containers.
  • Tally amounts of processed items.
  • Follow asset protection practices such as greeting customers, enforcing the oversized bag policy, and provide excellent customer service as it relates to loss prevention.
  • Complete Daily Assignment Sheet (DAS)
  • Other duties as assigned.
