About The Position

The Cashier is responsible for operating the cash register during cafeteria meals and coffee hours and keeping proper cash accounting. The cashier is also responsible for posting menus as necessary, preparing coffee, filling plasticware, condiments, and disposables, restocking various items, ensuring the work area and cafeteria are clean and neat per the sanitation procedures, and cleaning various equipment as required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to interpret and apply simple instructions.
  • Prior experience operating a cash register and handling cash is required.
  • Must be proficient in math, customer service oriented, and can multitask.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of food service experience preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating the cash register during cafeteria meal hours and keeping proper cash accounting.
  • Greet customers, process orders including discounts and vouchers, and take cash from customers.
  • Resolving customer complaints or issues
  • Request backup change funds from Security as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing cleaning of dining room tables after customers use.
  • Actively participate in cash drawer reconciliation at the end of the shift and report cash variances.
  • Post menus as necessary.
  • Prepare coffee, restock plasticware, condiments, and disposables, restock various items, and ensure the cafeteria is clean and neat per sanitation procedures.
  • Set up coffee carts accurately for Hospital scheduled meetings.
  • Operate and keep work equipment/utensils in proper operating condition to provide a quality product with optimal safety, and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Accomplish the day’s tasks as set forth by the position, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide job training to new employees and complete all required training as assigned.
  • Responds promptly to customer requests, provides excellent customer service, and collaborates with other departments throughout the organization.
  • Adhere to patient privacy policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality.
  • Prepare food as assigned by management, properly documenting required temperature logs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
