The Caseworker provides supervision and support for clients/residents as required by The Salvation Army and funding contract policies and procedures. The incumbent’s work environment is typically in a shelter and/or transitional housing and/or supportive housing. The incumbent will work under disagreeable conditions such as isolation, monotony, odors, dealing with angry people, verbal abuse, work schedule affecting lifestyle, exposure to bodily fluids, bodily waste, exposure to drugs and alcohol. The incumbent may have little to no travel required. The incumbent carries a pager/walkie talkie and will work shifts. The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor to moderate injury or illness due to physical attacks by others, exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, sharp objects, and other dangerous situations. The performance of the job requires a moderate amount of keyboarding/manual record keeping, and occasionally lifting/packing clients/resident’s property/personal effects and engaging in recreational activities.
