About The Position

This is a merit hire position with an hourly rate of $20.20. It is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Department of Mental Health, Autism, and Developmental Programs is seeking a full-time, second shift (3 PM- 11 PM) Caseworker 2 for their Crisis Intervention Program. Existing employees in this role can apply based on their current status. Staff may be required to work different shifts, including nights and weekends, due to departmental needs. The Caseworker 2 responds immediately to life crisis situations for individuals in Dauphin County within a 24-hour emergency Crisis Intervention program. This role involves using casework skills to gather information, providing counseling to consumers and their families, and connecting them with available resources. Responsibilities include applying problem-solving techniques, maximizing service delivery, achieving service plan goals, monitoring consumer behavior, and collaborating with agencies in the local service network. Work is performed according to established regulations, policies, and procedures. The Caseworker 2 exercises initiative and judgment in their duties, with supervision provided by a professional social service or administrative supervisor through conferences and case record reviews. The second shift includes a potential $.70 shift differential, subject to change. A retention bonus may be offered after one year of employment.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a human services major such as sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
  • One year of professional experience in a public or private social services agency.
  • At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record.
  • A favorable criminal background check.
  • Child abuse clearances.
  • FBI clearances.
  • Favorable references.
  • Proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire (or an alternative form of identification if not eligible for a PA driver's license and driving is not an essential function).
