University Settlement Society Of New YorkBrooklyn, NY
Hybrid

About The Position

University Settlement partners with over 40,000 New Yorkers annually in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, aiming to foster healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. With a history spanning nearly 140 years, the organization combats poverty and systemic inequality by developing effective social services in collaboration with the community. Founded in 1886 as the first Settlement House in the U.S., University Settlement continues its mission by meeting New Yorkers where they are, actively listening, and fostering responsive cooperation. The organization supports community strength by helping individuals build stable foundations for growth and dream achievement. Their programs, which include early childhood education, youth development, healthy aging, mental health and wellness, English classes for adult immigrants, community centers, and the arts, are infused with a commitment to civic engagement, equality, and communal action. The Prevention Program, funded by the Administration for Children's Services (ACS), offers comprehensive home and community-based preventive services to children and families. This program utilizes Mobility Mentoring, an evidence-based model that emphasizes a growth mindset, high expectations, and belief in the potential of children and families. Case Planners in this program work directly with children and families to support their stability and growth, helping them achieve their self-identified goals. They are expected to integrate Mobility Mentoring into all aspects of their work. The program collaborates with other University Settlement programs, community partners, and ACS to ensure families have access to and are connected with necessary resources and services for problem-solving and achieving their goals.
