About The Position

Salt Lake County is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their Criminal Justice Services team. This career opportunity focuses on alternatives to incarceration, evidence-based practices, and community collaboration to promote community safety through positive behavior change. Case Managers will support individuals involved in the justice system by addressing underlying issues that lead to criminal behavior and facilitating opportunities for change. The role involves assisting clients in developing pro-social skills using evidence-based practices for lasting behavior changes. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Must pass a required background check through fingerprinting.
  • Must enroll in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program.

Responsibilities

  • Refers clients for court-ordered services.
  • Utilizes acceptable case management practices regarding file maintenance and updating computerized case management systems.
  • Provides appropriate supervision, identifies criminogenic needs, and creates plans to reduce failure to appear and/or risk of further offenses.
  • Addresses criminogenic needs, reviews progress, provides short-term crisis assistance, and identifies further intervention.
  • Assesses readiness to change, identifies barriers, provides support, and collaborates to facilitate positive changes.
  • Interacts with criminal justice agencies, treatment agencies, and other service providers to promote client interests.
  • Attends order to show cause hearings, review hearings, and evidentiary hearings at District and Justice Courts.
  • Conducts Presentence Investigation interviews, compiles professional investigation reports, and submits them to the court.
