About The Position

The Sheltering Case Manager will work with moderate to high needs clients to support and guide them through an extended level of assistance in order to remove barriers and facilitate stable housing. The person in this position will perform eligibility screening, program enrollment, participant follow-ups, process required paperwork, data entry, and other general program supports. This position will directly align with the Housing First initiatives of the ARCHES Project. The position is renewable annually based on the continuation of project funding.

Requirements

  • Two years of related social service experience, direct client care; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years.
  • Candidate must pass Oregon Department of Human Services criminal background check and MWVCAA agency background check.
  • Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification is required within first 30 days of hire.
  • Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
  • Basic proficiencies in computers, MS Office products, database software, and web tools.
  • Must possess excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
  • Child Care Division Central Background Registration.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree with two or more years of homeless service delivery experience and mental health certifications and/or licensing.
  • Knowledge of/or experience with: the principles of coordinated assessment, working with unsheltered or vulnerable populations, as well as best practices in homeless service delivery.
  • Bilingual English Spanish skills (must pass a bilingual exam demonstrating fluent speaking, reading, and writing in English and Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with clients to ensure access to housing assessments and resources.
  • Attends and engage required annual trainings.
  • Assesses client eligibility and aids in gathering documentation as required for intake, enrollment, and shelter placement.
  • Provides direct service to participants, including case management and housing placement support to assist participants in becoming self-sufficient and overcoming barriers to accessing permanent housing.
  • Develops Action Plans that identify participant needs, barriers, and strengths.
  • Establishes and maintains an active working relationship with community partners.
  • Provides support for client-tracking, service delivery, follow-up reporting, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Maintains full compliance with all federal, state, and grant program and funding requirements, setting high standards for data quality and compliance performance, remaining in compliance with the regulations of all funding streams.
  • Works cooperatively with other ARCHES Project programming to ensure quality and timely client service delivery.
  • Complies with agency Quarterly and Annual reports.
  • Complies with MWVCAA safety and personnel policies, including punctuality and attendance.
  • Performs cleaning, janitorial, and laundry tasks in support of day-to-day sheltering operations.
  • Supports nutrition staff as needed by completing various kitchen tasks, including cooking meals.
  • Participates in Community Outreach to local organizations, camps, and groups as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and coworkers at all times.

  • The posted hourly rate is inclusive of a 2% bilingual differential.
