About The Position

Louisiana State University is seeking a Case Manager for LSU Cares. This role reports to the Assistant Dean of Care and is responsible for coordinating and implementing interventions for students facing challenges, crises, or distress that impact their well-being. The Case Manager will assist the Assistant Dean in overseeing students of concern, the Foster Care Youth program, and Transfer student programming. This position may also involve supervising or supporting part-time employees, graduate assistants, practicum students, and interns. The role involves coordinating interventions, assisting students of concern in partnership with campus constituents, and collaborating with various stakeholders for interdisciplinary intervention efforts. The Case Manager will also oversee programming, develop community partnerships, and support campus education for the Foster Youth Support Program, while attending and communicating with Care team members for case follow-up and initiation. The Division of Student Affairs prioritizes quality, creating a sense of home for students, and designing inclusive programs and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field and at least one year of professional related experience working with vulnerable populations, crisis response, or related field.
  • OR Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply— a degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Higher Ed, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least two or more years of experience in higher education administration, social work, counseling, or closely related field.
  • Experience working with crisis response.
  • Understanding of mental health conditions, treatment plans, and terminology (including diagnostic categories) & medical privacy guidelines (HIPAA).
  • Experience with Maxient or other case management tracking tools.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement interventions with students in crisis, distress, and of concern, including initial meetings, campus and community referrals, follow-up, and other efforts to provide thorough and effective education.
  • Assist students of concern in partnership with campus constituents.
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders regarding interdisciplinary intervention efforts, including Care team members, student health practitioners, academic counselors, faculty, staff, parent/families, and other support persons.
  • Advocate and connect with campus and community resources for students of concern.
  • Oversee programming, develop community partners, and support campus education for the Foster Youth Support Program.
  • Attend and communicate with Care team members as needed for follow up on existing cases and initiation of new cases.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and assist with students of concern cases and caseload within Maxient.
  • Lead the Foster Youth Support Program by building/maintaining community and campus stakeholder partnerships and providing education about the program.
  • Establish processes to gather data related to former foster care youth on campus and use that data to inform program development and implementation.
  • Develop more robust outreach and programming for Transfer Students.
  • Ensure the highest level of support in every aspect of interventions provided to students.
  • Embrace and execute the marginal gains approach to continuously improve all services, events, programs, and experiences in the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Care, including supporting broad division/institution efforts (e.g., Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services, Finals Testing, other special projects).
  • Supervise and/or provide support for WAE (part-time) employees, graduate assistants, practicum students, and interns.
