About The Position

Case Managers on our Corrections team provide supportive counseling and coordination of care to our incarcerated clients within the assigned correctional facility. Coordinating with the Department of Corrections, the Case Manager screens and triages referrals for mental health or substance use treatment for incarcerated individuals and ensures that appropriate care is given to each client. Recognizing the complex needs beyond direct treatment, Case Managers work with clients to build skills necessary for independent living, self-advocacy, treatment engagement, and social participation. Case Managers also collaborate with other Comprehensive Healthcare teams and community partners to develop discharge plans and continuation of services ahead of each client’s release from the correctional facility. This position requires a confident clinician who is comfortable working within corrections settings, has exceptional communication skills, and enjoys collaboration with multiple partner organizations. All work will be performed within the Benton County Jail located in Kennewick.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Must be eligible for registration as Agency Affiliated Counselor
  • Must be able to receive security clearance from the Department of Corrections
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle liability insurance, and a minimum of two years of safe driving experience

Responsibilities

  • providing intensive support and case management services to clients while they are incarcerated
  • coordinating with other service providers and treatment teams to expedite services and advocate on the client’s behalf
  • collaborating with each client to create individualized treatment and discharge plans to encourage successful engagement with continuing treatment during incarceration and upon release
  • monitoring clients’ progress, symptoms, and medication response
  • facilitating educational, behavioral health, or skill-building groups
  • assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
  • completing all documentation in a respectful, client-centered manner
