About The Position

Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking a full time Clubhouse Generalist (kitchen unit) to join the Journey House Clubhouse program. The Clubhouse Generalist/Case Manager is a bachelor's-level mental health professional who provides targeted case management, behavior management, skills development, and personal services in a supportive Clubhouse setting. This position will work side by side to engage members of the program in all aspects of Clubhouse operation. The staff will assist clients in effectively utilizing available community resources and may be provided in various settings. This position offers hope, guidance, and skills toward obtaining and maintaining independence in community living. Journey House Clubhouse (JH) is a community based psycho-social rehabilitation program where adults with persistent mental illness can rebuild their self-respect and confidence. We provide a supportive and accepting community in which members can gain a sense of belonging and accomplishment through education, productive work, and meaningful relationships. Journey House Clubhouse is not a treatment facility. It is a unique supportive and collaborative setting where those who participate in our programs are "members" rather than clients. JH is one of over 300 Clubhouse programs world-wide that is certified by Clubhouse International. Journey House Clubhouse is a place for members to integrate themselves into the community and assist them in achieving their life's goals. Journey House is looking for an individual to for in a fast-paced environment that is flexible, adaptable, and capable of having fun! The belief that recovery is possible for people with mental illness must be a core social work value as you will work with the members to identify their strengths and challenges and as they work towards the goal of pursuing meaning and productive work, personal, and social life. The members are the foundation of Journey House. You should have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain meaningful relationships with people from various walks of life and diverse backgrounds. You need to be a strong team member (willing to provide coverage in all units, as needed), self-starter, creative thinker, and can engage many individuals at one time.

Requirements

  • Candidates licensed as a Social Service Worker (SSW)
  • Candidates who are not currently licensed but are actively pursuing SSW licensure or those that do not have a SSW license, but are eligible for Targeted Case Management Certification may also be considered.
  • Davis Behavioral Health utilizes an electronic medical record, which requires proficiency in computer-related skills.
  • Meeting monthly face-to-face service expectations and productivity standards is also required.
  • The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
  • DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore, making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample.
  • Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.
  • Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants and must comply with the Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.
  • Targeted Case Management Certification Candidates who do not hold a professional license must complete certification as a Targeted Case Manager (TCM) within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Qualifications to become a certified Targeted Case Manager through the State of Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health include: 400 hours of work, volunteer, and/or education experience in human services or a related field
  • Required 40-hour case management practicum and examination provided by DBH during the TCM certification class.
  • The successful candidate must also have a clean driving record to operate agency vehicles and/or transport clients, when necessary.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients that have severe mental illness, are hard working, can work both independently and successfully within a small outreach team.
  • Prefer Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation experience and/or willingness to work as Generalist Practitioner.
  • The Case Manager must possess strong verbal communication skills and demonstrate compassion, courtesy , and respect to all clients and their families.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish immediate rapport with clients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with SED/SPMI populations, substance use, and with individuals and families .
  • Demonstrates the skills necessary to motivate and engage individuals .
  • Knowledge of the techniques and principles of child and family development and family systems
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care .
  • Good organizational and practice management skills .
  • Ability to work independently and effectively .
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and community/state agencies .
  • Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work, including evenings .
  • Must be able to exercise judgment, work independently and effectively with a team under general direction.

Responsibilities

  • Clubhouse Management
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing daily unit work with members.
  • Working side by side with members to complete unit work and tasks.
  • Applying and modeling the Clubhouse Standards, in daily tasks.
  • Kitchen Unit staff position, including teaching members to plan, organize and prepare daily meals at Clubhouse.
  • Learn and become immersed in the Clubhouse Model of Psycho-social rehabilitation.
  • Creatively encouraging and motivating members to participate in their recovery.
  • Organizing, executing, and participating in some evening, weekend, and holiday activities.
  • Actively participating in the fundraising efforts for Journey House.
  • Completing frequent outreach of members who are not in attendance for each unit.
  • Assisting to meet the community needs of members.
  • Documentation Requirements
  • Developing Personal & Individualized Treatment Plans with members.
  • Completing reviews of the treatment plans with members.
  • Completing bi-weekly comments on progress notes with member in unit.
  • Completing documentation in adherence to DBH standards.
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Providing supportive life coaching to members.
  • Providing on-site job coaching to members as needed to maintain successful Transitional Employment Placements (T.E.P.), Supported Employment, and Competitive Employment in the community.
  • Participate in Transitional Employment as placement manager.
  • Participate in 2-week clubhouse training.
  • Adhere to Clubhouse International Standards and Philosophy
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Program Director or Supervisor.
