About The Position

This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd – West Ave. The successful candidate will extend our mission to residential and non-residential clients through the provision of respectful and appropriate housing support services. This may include case management, crisis intervention and supportive counseling. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a challenging and rewarding values-based environment. This position is within a residential program, cleaning, lifting and pushing will be required tasks.

Requirements

  • Applicants should possess a thorough knowledge of issues impacting cis women, trans and non-binary individuals including violence, abuse, mental health, homelessness, poverty and substance use
  • Demonstrated experience with Intake and Assessment
  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity is essential
  • A post-secondary education in a related field is required
  • C.P.R. certification (or willingness to be certified)
  • The successful candidate will have a flexible schedule

  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a residential setting is preferred
  • A valid Ontario driver's license (G) is also an asset
  • Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a caseload
  • Complete an intake and assessment on each resident
  • Design, implement, in consultation with supervisor, an interview schedule that will provide an evaluation of "quality of life" improvement of successful program participants
  • Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records
  • Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.
