About The Position

Our Refugee Foster Care program provides a unique supportive environment for both the foster family and the unaccompanied refugee minors. Although the goal is to reunite children with their biological families, unfortunately refugee minors generally need long-term foster care since reunification with family members is rarely possible.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid AZ driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration/insurance.
  • Level One Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance.
  • Must have or complete within 90 days of hire, training in CPR and First Aid and remain current in the certification.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to drive on behalf of Catholic Charities.
  • Previous experience working with refugee population preferred; cultural sensitivity; and good cross cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and ability to work effectively as a team member in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Must be organized, be able to work in crisis intervention situations.
  • Must be accurate in completion and updating of case notes, familiar with computer.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with foreign born children and cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Specialization in Child Welfare preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a variety of services to children and foster parents under immediate supervision.
  • Assists clients with application processes for public benefits, school enrollment, etc. as needed.
  • Delivers goods, documents, etc. to clients as requested.
  • Supports the needs of program operations to include organizing, assisting, preparing for meetings, filing, or communicating with other staff.
  • Follows compliance with policies and procedures, state, and federal regulations. Complies with all policies and procedures of the agency.
  • May support any team member with routine or daily responsibilities, including but not limited to filing, copying, data entry, and other duties as assigned.
  • Records unique incidents that require documentation.
  • Details client interactions in accordance with program requirements. Input client information in database and assist with tracking and reporting as needed. Ensure all notes are detailed, accurate, and submitted timely.
  • Assist with transportation for medical screening, doctors’ appointments, DES appointments, legal appointments, etc. throughout the service delivery area.
  • May provide interpretation services.
  • Assist in maintaining case file documentation and completing required reports.
  • Refers clients as appropriate to proper programs or social service agencies.
  • Participates in all program meetings, staff development activities, and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with quarterly file reviews.
  • Host trainings for clients to teach independent living skills.
  • Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
