About The Position

The Infusion Nurse – Cellular Therapy and Clinical Research (full-time) is responsible for the safe and compliant administration of investigational and commercial therapies, including cellular therapies (e.g., CAR-T), within an outpatient oncology setting. This role supports both clinical care and research operations, ensuring adherence to protocol requirements, regulatory standards, and institutional policies. The position may require occasional weekend coverage (see schedule notes).

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
  • Minimum 2–3 years of oncology infusion experience required
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
  • Attention to detail and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Experience with clinical trials and/or cellular therapy preferred
  • Experience with CAR-T or stem cell transplant programs
  • Familiarity with GCP, FDA regulations, and clinical research processes
  • Experience managing oncology-related toxicities and infusion reactions

Responsibilities

  • Administer oncology therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cellular therapies, in accordance with established protocols and manufacturer guidelines
  • Perform pre-infusion assessments, including review of labs, orders, and patient eligibility
  • Perform venipuncture/blood draws for clinical and research purposes (routine labs, PKs, and study samples)
  • Monitor patients during and post-infusion, including management of adverse events such as cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurotoxicity (ICANS)
  • Ensure emergency preparedness, including appropriate escalation and coordination with higher levels of care as needed
  • Maintain chain of identity and chain of custody for cellular therapy products
  • Participate in cellular therapy workflows, including product receipt, handling, verification, and bedside coordination
  • Support cryopreserved product handling, including thawing procedures in accordance with SOPs
  • Coordinate with apheresis centers, manufacturers, and couriers as needed
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer requirements and applicable regulatory standards
  • Ensure site preparedness for CAR-T, including but not limited to readiness of clinical personnel involved in patient care and SOPs
  • Responsible for end to end patient coordination and care for patients undergoing CAR-T – ensuring all steps occur safely
  • Participate in weekend coverage to support CAR-T patient monitoring during high-risk post-infusion periods (e.g., CRS and neurotoxicity monitoring windows). Weekend coverage typically runs 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and is scheduled as needed when a CAR-T patient requires monitoring (not every weekend).
  • Execute study-related procedures per protocol, including sample collection, processing, and documentation
  • Collaborate with clinical research staff to ensure protocol adherence and accurate data capture
  • Support sponsor monitoring visits and audits as applicable
  • Maintain source documentation in accordance with GCP and institutional standards
  • Responsible for end to end patient coordination and care for patients enrolled in a clinical trial – ensuring all steps occur safely
  • Document all clinical and research activities accurately within the electronic medical record and study systems
  • Adhere to SOPs, regulatory requirements, and quality management processes
  • Participate in training, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Work closely with physicians, research staff, pharmacy, and external partners to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Communicate effectively regarding patient status, protocol requirements, and operational workflows
  • Participate in meetings related to cellular therapy or clinical trial
