About The Position

In accordance with a detailed cleaning plan, the incumbent performs general and specific cleaning and maintenance tasks to provide a clean, safe and pleasant physical environment. Performs other tasks as assigned in emergency or unusual situations. Tasks will be performed with specific guidance from supervisor. Examples of additional work to be performed include but are not limited to snow and ice removal, clean up associated with water or fire damage and special event support. The incumbent is expected to clean up to 28,000-35,000 square feet of cleanable space per eight-hour work day. Performance of duties involves using standard tools, equipment, materials and supplies of the trade and observance of all safety rules, regulations and precautions.

Requirements

  • Requires valid and current driver’s license from Maryland, Virginia, or District of Columbia
  • Must be able to read and understand product label instructions and University policies and procedures
  • Must be able to relate custodial and maintenance problems clearly to supervisor and/or the Work Management Center
  • Will be required to complete a training program in building cleaning

Nice To Haves

  • HS or GED preferred
  • One year of custodial work experience is preferred
