About The Position

This role involves performing various carpentry tasks, requiring a strong understanding of wood properties, carpentry materials, and the proficient use of all relevant tools. The successful candidate must be capable of interpreting blueprints, drawings, and submittals, accurately taking measurements, and calculating material quantities for various projects. Core responsibilities include cutting, shaping, and smoothing lumber, as well as constructing structural elements such as window frames, doors, staircases, and building frames from raw materials or pre-constructed components. The role also involves the installation of interior items like siding, cabinets, doors, framers, and hardware, alongside exterior finishes including WRB siding, envelope systems, trim, and millwork. A crucial aspect of the position is the ability to build and set forms for cast-in-place concrete, encompassing both horizontal and vertical formwork, and performing precise layout tasks, including angular movement. Finally, the carpenter will be expected to inspect finished products and carry out any necessary repairs or maintenance.

Requirements

  • Experience in a construction related field.
  • Ability to perform manual construction work and equipment operations.

Responsibilities

  • Has good working knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials and the use of all necessary tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, submittals and to fully grasp requirements.
  • Accuracy taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed for a project.
  • Skilled in use of all tools necessary to cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to measurements.
  • Able to build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items.
  • Able to install items such as siding and cabinets, doors, framers and hardware.
  • Installation of exterior finish including WRB siding and envelope systems, as well as trim and millwork.
  • Able to build and set forms for CIP including horizontal and vertical formwork.
  • Layout including angular movement.
  • Inspect products and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed.
