About The Position

An individual to perform all duties common to general carpentry, inclusive of wood and metal stud framing altering, maintenance and repair, inside finish, hardware installation, installation of suspended ceilings and ceilings with soffits. Will install metal and wood doors/windows and door/window frames from knock-down to solid welded frames to sound transmission class and associated various hardware, and all types of door closures that are dependent on specific type door installed and location of sound door. Shall be able to install gypsum and follow all proper steps to finish wall including taping, mudding and final sanding. Will be required to install and repair vinyl composition tiles, carpet tiles, ceramic tiles and carpeting. Will also be required to install and service demountable wall systems (i.e. Hauserman, Virginia Metals, Acme, etc.). Will install, maintain, and repair demountable offices partitions, doors and furniture. Some knowledge on wood and concrete subfloor preparation/repair, to include concrete and concrete forms maintenance and repair required. Must be able to install, repair and maintain various door hardware, emergency exit hardware, lever door locks such as VonDuprin, LCN and Best, cipher locks, electric strikes on doors or frames, etc. Will be required to work with plywood, high-density board, and plastic laminate, wood mock ups using dado, butt and biscuit joints. Will be required to perform other carpentry duties as assigned. Required to climb and maneuver on ladders, staging, aerial lifts and work platforms and/or tight spaces. Ability to climb over and around equipment in construction areas is a must.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a full time carpenter.
  • Capable of reading and working from blue prints and sketches.
  • Able to interpret what materials and hardware are required for the job from details on project and shop drawings as well as from specifications.
  • Experience operating carpentry power tools such as: table saw, thickness planer, jointer, radial arm saw, router, and a variety of portable power tools, etc.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Physically demanding requiring frequent standing for long periods, heavy lifting, bending, climbing stairs, and ability to climb, maneuver and work safely on ladders, staging, work platforms, lifts and tight or confined spaces.
  • Ability to work over and around equipment located in offices, mechanical rooms or construction areas is a must.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.

  • Knowledge of ADA, OSHA requirements and Massachusetts Building Codes desirable.
